Mortar & Wastage Addition
Calculate gross masonry volume using wall length, height, and thickness. Determine single brick module volume including mortar allowance, then divide net volume by unit volume.
Apply empirical field constants of 13.5 bricks per cubic foot or 500 bricks per cubic meter for quick schematic estimations and preliminary material budgeting.
Deduct dry brick volume from total masonry volume to find wet mortar requirements. Apply a standard 33 percent dry volume expansion factor plus 5 percent site wastage.
